WebNY spends about $9B/year on medical and long-term care for over 120,000 eligible residents. In an effort to improve service quality and outcomes, while also controlling costs, the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) began looking at options to improve upon the support systems that have been built for people with IDD over several decades. WebOPWDD provides a supplement to Supervised and Supportive Residential Habilitation providers whose room and board costs exceed projected revenues. The agency will spend $9.5 million in FY 2024 to align room and board supplemental payments with actual costs and reimburse providers for the full amount of OPWDD-approved costs incurred.
