High pinion means the pinion is above the center line of the ring gear and the way the gears are cut they drive on the drive side of the gear insted of the coast side making them stronger. A dana 60 is 1 1/8", so 2 1/4" higher driveshaft. Since you are going with 40's I'd say 9.5's for sure.
