WebDec 10, 2012 · Yes, overdrive would be nice, and yes 700r4 would be nice IF, it were strong enough for a 3/4 ton. Do realize half tons did get the 700r4. 3/4 tons would have gotten it too had GM thought the 700r4 was tough enough. Even with a good build, it's not likely to last as long as an OE built Th400. The new turbocharged combination will easily make double that amount of horsepower, so moving to a TH400 transmission was the most logical choice, since the car is still driven on the street.

I won't go into details but it is equipped with two manual, reverse ordered valve bodies and I've been driving it on the street for many years and never once had any issues with the tailshaft.
